Scholarship Coverage

There is a scholarship offered by Tokyo University for international students, and the scholarship will cover most of the cost of the student’s education.

• Exemption from tuition and entrance fees.
• Allowance per month:
• Students enrolled in a Master’s program receive 144,000 Yen per month.
• Approximately 145,000 Yen per month (for students enrolled in a doctoral program).
• Students studying or doing research in certain parts of the country can receive an additional stipend of 2,000 or 3,000 yen per month.

Eligibility Criteria

• Scholarships from the Japanese Government are available to students from all over the world.
• The applicant must have been born on or after April 2, 1985.
• To be considered for a position, candidates must apply for their former university’s subject area or field of study.

Language Requirements

• The English language proficiency requirement must be met by applicants.
• Typically, English proficiency is measured by a test score of B2 or above on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (e.g. TOEFL iBT 72 or above, IELTS 5.5 or above).
